What is the Young Professionals of Lake Cumberland? The YPs are young professional people in the Somerset/Lake Cumberland area ages 21-40. Although this is our voting membership age, anyone who is enthusiastic, wanting to network, and give back to our community is welcome to join us. The YP group meets monthly for a Luncheon and periodic Social Events. The YP group is also involved in community activities through volunteer work and fundraisers.
When do you have a meeting? We hold Luncheon meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at Noon. The location changes monthly so check out our calendar of events for details of the next meeting and sign up for our newsletter to receive information on events involving the YP. We usually have a speaker of the month and have a business spotlight on one of our members.
What are Social Events? From time to time we will have events taking place after hours in order to have an opportunity to network with other young professionals in a more relaxed atmosphere. The locations and events are flexible. Some past Social Events have included a trip to a Lexington Legends game, tour of Sinking Valley Winery, SomerBlast, cornhole tournaments, etc.
How do I become a member? Come to one of our meetings and fill out a New Member Sign up Sheet and pay a small membership fee. This form will give us your current contact information to make sure you receive information on upcoming events with the group.
What is the cost of membership? The membership cost $25 per person. This fee is annual.
Do I have to pay for my first visit? The membership fee is waived for your first visit. Please attend a Luncheon Meeting to network and learn about our group. AFTER you see how fun our group is and decide you want to come to another meeting or Social Event, please pay the $25 membership fee. Remember to bring your business cards to the meeting.
Why should I join? Meet other young professional people in our area through networking and community involvement. The YP group is a young, energetic group who are looking to make an impact on the community through support of local businesses and peers in the Lake Cumberland region.
